Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite review: requirements and how to apply
Cashback rewards and insurance coverage

Credit cards are commonly used in Canada for everyday purchases, online payments and recurring expenses. They help organize spending and allow payments to be made both in physical stores and online.
Many people also use credit cards to build a credit history over time. Payment behaviour, such as paying on time and keeping balances manageable, can affect future applications for housing, utilities or other financial services.
Because of this, it’s important to understand how a credit card works before applying.
Some credit cards focus on rewards, such as cash back on purchases. Others include insurance coverage or additional services linked to travel or lifestyle programs. Each credit card comes with its own fees, interest rates, limits and eligibility conditions that should be reviewed carefully.
The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite, now branded by Scotiabank as the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite+ Card, is a cash back credit card offered by Scotiabank. In this article, you’ll find information about who the card is designed for, its main features, its fees, how the application process works and the income requirements to consider before applying.
Who is the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite credit card for?
The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite card is intended for Canadian residents who want to earn cash back on everyday spending. It suits individuals or households that use a credit card regularly for expenses such as groceries, recurring bills, gas, transit and food delivery.
It also appeals to those who prefer straightforward cash back rather than points-based travel rewards. Cash back is calculated directly as a percentage of eligible spending, without conversion charts.
To qualify, Scotiabank requires a minimum personal income of at least $60,000 or a household income of at least $100,000, or a minimum amount of assets under management. The minimum credit limit for this card is $5,000.
As with any financial product, approval is subject to Scotiabank’s credit review and internal criteria.

During the application, you’ll be asked questions about your job, your yearly income and where you live, along with other personal and financial information. Providing your Social Insurance Number (SIN) is optional.

Opinion about the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite credit card
The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite may suit people looking for a cash back credit card who spend regularly on groceries, recurring bills, gas and transit. At 4%, you’d need to spend about $3,000 per year ($250 per month) on groceries and recurring bills just to cover the $120 annual fee.
However, the annual fee and the minimum income requirement mean this card isn’t accessible to every applicant. Travel medical coverage is also limited to travellers under 65 and to trips of up to 15 days. And the 20.99% interest rate can quickly cancel out your cash back if you don’t pay your balance in full every month.
Before applying, review your spending habits and compare the cash back you could earn with the card’s annual cost. If you qualify and pay your statement in full each month, it can be a strong option for households with steady everyday expenses.
