The RBC British Airways Visa Infinite card is a travel credit card linked to British Airways. It’s designed for people who fly with the airline or its oneworld partners and want to earn Avios on their spending.

RBC says it’s the only credit card in Canada that earns Avios, the British Airways loyalty currency.

Besides earning Avios, the card includes travel insurance, a discount on British Airways flights and a Companion Voucher for cardholders who spend enough each year.

Keep reading to learn how the card works, what it costs and how to apply.

Who is the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite Card for?

This card is mainly for people who fly with British Airways or one of its oneworld partner airlines.

You can redeem Avios for Reward Flights not only with British Airways but also with other oneworld airlines, such as American Airlines, Qatar Airways and Finnair, to almost 1,000 destinations.

It can suit both business travellers and people planning international trips, as long as they meet the income requirement: a personal income of at least $60,000 or a household income of at least $100,000.

If you rarely fly with British Airways or its partners, a more flexible travel rewards card may be a better fit.

Benefits of the RBC British Airways Visa Infinite

The card offers the following benefits:

Earn Avios

Every eligible purchase with the card earns Avios, which you can redeem for flights, seat upgrades, hotel stays and other rewards.

You earn 3 Avios per $1 spent on British Airways purchases, 2 Avios per $1 on dining and food delivery, and 1 Avios per $1 on all other qualifying purchases.

This lets you earn Avios on your everyday spending, from groceries to gas.

Flight discounts

You get 10% off British Airways flights every time you book and pay with your card.

Companion Voucher

When you spend $30,000 on the card in a year, you earn a Companion Voucher.

With the voucher, you can take a companion with you on a Reward Flight booked with Avios, or fly solo with a 50% discount on the Avios fare of your reward seat. Taxes, fees and carrier charges may still apply.

Travel and purchase insurance

The card includes the following insurance coverage:

  • Travel accident insurance;
  • Out-of-province/country emergency medical insurance;
  • Flight delay insurance;
  • Delayed baggage insurance;
  • Hotel/motel burglary insurance;

Coverage is subject to the terms, limits and exclusions in the Certificate of Insurance.
