Who the card is for

The Reflect card suits people who want to move high-interest credit card debt or pay off a large purchase over time, and who can clear the balance within 21 months. It isn’t built for earning rewards, and the 3% foreign transaction fee makes it a poor choice for purchases abroad.

It also isn’t designed for people new to credit. Wells Fargo doesn’t publish a minimum credit score, but long intro APR cards like this one generally favor applicants with good credit.

Before you apply

Wells Fargo has two rules that can affect your application:

  • You may not qualify for a new Wells Fargo credit card if you’ve opened one in the last four months.
  • If you’ve had the Reflect card in the last 48 months, even if the account is now closed with a $0 balance, you may not be eligible for the intro APR.

If you plan to transfer a balance, calculate the 5% fee first and compare it with the interest you’d pay on your current card. Also check that you can pay the balance, including the fee, within 21 months.

How to apply for the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card

  1. Go to the card’s page on Wells Fargo’s official website and select Apply now. Wells Fargo notes that you must select Apply now to get the offer shown.
  2. Fill in your personal and financial information, including your Social Security number and income.
  3. If you want to transfer a balance, you can request it in the application by entering the account number and amount. The transfer is subject to approval.
  4. Review the terms and submit the application. Approval is subject to credit qualification.

Submitting an application usually results in a hard inquiry on your credit report. If you’re approved, the card is mailed to you.

How balance transfers work

If you’re already a cardholder, you can request a balance transfer by signing on to Wells Fargo Online and selecting Request Balance Transfer under Account Management, or by calling 1-800-642-4720. To get the 0% intro rate, the transfer must be made within 120 days of account opening.

A few details to keep in mind:

  • A transfer can take up to 14 days to post, so keep making payments on your old card until it does.
  • Approved transfers are limited to your available credit, and the amount includes the transfer fee.
  • If you request more than one transfer, Wells Fargo processes the largest one first.
  • Balance transfers have no grace period, so interest accrues from the day they post. It’s 0% during the intro period, but any remaining balance starts accruing interest at the standard rate once the intro period ends.

Our take on the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card gives you one of the longest 0% intro APR periods available, which is useful for paying down debt or spreading out a large purchase. The 5% balance transfer fee and the lack of rewards mean it works best as a short-term tool with a clear payoff plan, not as a long-term everyday card.
