TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum: an entry-level Aeroplan card
The TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card is a travel credit card from TD that earns Aeroplan points, the loyalty program of Air Canada.

It’s an entry-level Aeroplan card: it earns points on everyday purchases, includes travel insurance and has a lower annual fee than TD’s premium Aeroplan cards.
Below, you’ll find the card’s benefits, fees and main points to review before applying.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Earn 1 Aeroplan point per $1 on eligible gas, electric vehicle charging, grocery and Air Canada purchases (up to $80,000 in these categories per year), and 1 point per $1.50 on all other purchases;
- Redeem points for any Air Canada seat available for cash, with no blackout periods, as well as for hotels, car rentals, merchandise and gift cards;
- Aeroplan Family Sharing lets up to 8 family members pool their points;
- Includes travel insurance and purchase protection;
- The $89 annual fee is rebated every year with a TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan;
- Points don’t expire while you’re the primary cardholder in good standing.
Cons:
- The card has an $89 annual fee, plus $35 for each additional card;
- The purchase interest rate is 21.99% and the cash advance rate is 22.99%, which are expensive if you carry a balance;

Opinion about the TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card
The TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Card can be a good option for people who fly with Air Canada and want an entry-level Aeroplan card with a lower annual fee.
Earning points on gas, groceries and Air Canada purchases, redeeming for any Air Canada seat with no blackout periods, and sharing points with family can add value for this type of traveller. The fee rebate with a TD All-Inclusive Banking Plan is useful for existing TD clients.
At the same time, the earn rate is modest compared with TD’s Aeroplan Visa Infinite card, and the 21.99% interest rate makes the card expensive if you carry a balance. It works best for people who pay their statement in full each month.
