Triangle Mastercard review: fees and how to apply
For Canadian Tire shoppers: see the rewards, fees and requirements before you apply

If you want a no-annual-fee credit card that earns rewards on everyday spending, especially at Canadian Tire and its partner stores, the Triangle Mastercard is worth understanding in detail.
Issued by Canadian Tire Bank, this card is connected to the Triangle Rewards program and earns its highest rewards on purchases at stores in the Canadian Tire group.
Below, you’ll find information to help you understand how the card works and what to consider before applying.
Who is the Triangle Mastercard for?
The Triangle Mastercard is designed for Canadians who shop regularly at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Mark’s/L’Équipeur, Party City, Atmosphere and other participating stores, and who fill up at Gas+ or Petro-Canada locations.
Because the 4% reward rate applies mainly within this network, the card suits people whose routine spending already includes these stores.
Canadian Tire Bank doesn’t publish a minimum income requirement for this card. Approval depends on its credit assessment, which considers factors such as your credit history, income and existing debts.
Applicants who don’t qualify for the standard interest rates may still be approved at higher rates, so approval terms can vary from one person to another.
Main benefits of the Triangle Mastercard
The Triangle Mastercard has no annual fee, so you can keep the account open without a yearly cost.
When you make eligible purchases, you earn 4% back in CT Money at Canadian Tire and participating stores, and 1.5% at grocery stores on the first $12,000 you spend each year (excluding Walmart and Costco). After that, grocery purchases earn 1%. All other purchases earn 0.5%.
You also collect 5¢ per litre in CT Money when you fill up at Gas+ and Petro-Canada locations. Your CT Money can be redeemed at participating stores, where $1 in CT Money equals $1 in merchandise.
The card also gives you access to equal monthly payments with no fee and no interest. Qualifying purchases of $150 or more at participating stores can be paid over 24 months. If Canadian Tire Bank doesn’t receive your full minimum payment within 59 days of a statement date, all your special payment plans end, and the regular interest rate applies to the remaining balances.
You can track your CT Money balance and see bonus offers in the Triangle App.
Keep in mind that the Triangle Mastercard doesn’t include insurance coverage. The Triangle World Elite Mastercard, which also has no annual fee, includes purchase security and car rental insurance, but requires a personal income of $80,000 or a household income of $150,000.
What are the card’s fees?
- Annual fee: $0;
- Interest on purchases: 21.99% annually;
- Interest on cash transactions: 22.99% annually (for Quebec residents, 21.99% applies to all charges);
- Alternative rates: if you’re not approved at the standard rates, Canadian Tire Bank may issue a card at 25.99% for purchases and 27.99% for cash transactions;
- Cash advance fee: 3% of the amount, up to $10;
- Foreign exchange fee: 2.5%;
- Statement copy fee: $2.
Rates and fees checked on September 22, 2026, against the official Triangle website. Confirm current terms on the Triangle website before applying.
What is the card’s limit?
The Triangle Mastercard doesn’t have a fixed credit limit for all applicants.
Canadian Tire Bank sets your credit limit during the application process, based on factors such as your credit history, payment behaviour, income and debts.
Initial limits can vary. Some applicants may start with lower limits, while others with a stronger financial profile may receive higher amounts.
Over time, Canadian Tire Bank may review your account and, in some cases, offer a credit limit increase. Increases aren’t automatic.

Our take on the Triangle Mastercard
The Triangle Mastercard is built around a specific shopping network rather than flexible travel or cash back rewards.
For people who already spend frequently at Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, grocery stores and Gas+ or Petro-Canada, the 4% rate at partner stores and the no-interest payment plans can add real value, with no annual fee.
At the same time, because CT Money can only be used at participating stores, the card may not suit people who want cash back they can spend anywhere. It also doesn’t include insurance, and purchases outside its main categories earn only 0.5%.
Before applying, review the full terms, the 21.99% interest rate and the fees to make sure the card fits your spending habits and how you plan to repay your balance.
