The Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard is a no-annual-fee credit card that pays cash back every month, with higher rates in categories you choose.

You earn 2% cash back in two categories of your choice, or three if you have your cash back deposited into a Tangerine Savings Account, and 0.5% on all other purchases. There’s no limit on how much cash back you can earn.

Below, you’ll find who the card is for, its benefits, fees and requirements, and how to apply.

Who is the Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard for?

The card suits people who want cash back with no annual fee and like choosing where they earn the most, such as groceries, restaurants, gas or recurring bills.

Compared with Tangerine’s basic Money-Back Credit Card, it adds Mastercard World benefits, such as a complimentary global data roaming plan and a Mastercard Travel Pass membership for airport lounge access. It also includes rental car, mobile device and purchase insurance.

To qualify, you must be a permanent resident of Canada, have reached the age of majority in your province or territory and have been clear of bankruptcy for at least 7 years. You also need one of the following: a gross annual income of $50,000, a household income of $80,000, or $250,000 in Tangerine savings and/or investment fund accounts.

What is the credit card limit?

Tangerine doesn’t publish a fixed credit limit for this card. Your limit is set after Tangerine reviews your application, based on criteria such as your income and credit history.

How to increase the card limit

Tangerine may consider a credit limit increase based on how you use your account and your financial situation. Making your payments on time and keeping your balance under control can help.

To ask about a credit limit increase, contact Tangerine through its Help Centre. Any increase depends on Tangerine’s review and isn’t guaranteed.

Conclusion

The Tangerine Money-Back World Mastercard can be a good option for people who meet the income requirement and want cash back with no annual fee, plus some travel and lifestyle benefits.

Choosing your own 2% categories, getting cash back every month and having insurance included add value for a no-fee card. However, other purchases earn only 0.5%, and a 2.5% fee applies to foreign currency purchases unless you choose foreign currency spending as a 2% category.

If you don’t meet the income requirement, the Tangerine Money-Back Credit Card offers the same cash back structure without the World benefits.

Before applying, review the card’s fees, interest rates and terms to make sure it fits your spending habits.
