The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card, now branded by Scotiabank as the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite+ Card, is a travel credit card that combines Scene+ rewards, travel insurance and airport lounge visits. It’s designed for Canadians who travel abroad often or make purchases in foreign currencies.

The card can be useful if you want to avoid foreign transaction fees while earning Scene+ points on everyday spending, which you can redeem for travel, groceries and other rewards. It also includes a set of travel insurance coverages.

Who is the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card for?

The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card is intended for Canadian residents who travel internationally or shop online in other currencies and who meet Scotiabank’s income or asset requirements.

To qualify, you need to meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • A minimum personal annual income of $60,000 to $80,000 or more;
  • A minimum household annual income of $100,000 to $150,000 or more;
  • A minimum of $250,000 to $300,000 or more in assets under management.

Scotiabank uses your application to help identify the card that’s right for you, and approval depends on its credit review. You must also have reached the age of majority in your province or territory.

According to Scotiabank, the card might not be right for you if you’ll carry a balance for a long time or use it for debt consolidation, if you rarely travel, make foreign currency purchases or need travel insurance, if you prefer cash back, or if you’d rather not pay an annual fee.

Benefits of the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card

The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card comes with several benefits for travellers and everyday spending. Here are some of the key advantages:

  • No foreign transaction fees: the card doesn’t charge the 2.5% fee typically applied by other card issuers on purchases in foreign currencies. Only the exchange rate applies;
  • Scene+ points: earn 3 points per $1 at Sobeys, Safeway, Foodland and other participating grocery stores, 2 points per $1 on dining, other groceries, entertainment and daily transit, and 1 point per $1 on everything else. The accelerated rates apply to the first $50,000 in eligible purchases each year;
  • Annual points bonus: earn 10,000 bonus Scene+ points each year when you spend $40,000 on the card, plus 2,000 points for every additional $10,000;
  • Six free airport lounge visits per year: you get a complimentary Visa Airport Companion membership with access to more than 1,200 airport lounges and 6 free visits per year. Each person counts as one visit, and additional visits cost $32 USD per person;
  • Travel insurance: includes Travel Emergency Medical Insurance of up to $2 million, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, flight delay, delayed and lost luggage, hotel burglary and rental car coverage when you charge eligible travel costs to the card;
  • Purchase protection: Purchase Security for 90 days and Extended Warranty of up to one additional year;
  • Visa Infinite benefits: 24/7 concierge service, the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection, the Visa Infinite Dining Series and wine country benefits;
  • Other savings: up to 10¢ per litre in value at Shell when you link your card to Shell Go+, a complimentary Avis Preferred Plus membership and complimentary GigSky global mobile data every year.

Insurance coverage is subject to the terms, limits and exclusions in the Certificate of Insurance provided with the card.

Together, these features support both everyday and travel spending, with a particular focus on purchases in foreign currencies.

Credit card limit

The minimum credit limit for the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card is $5,000. Your actual limit is set by Scotiabank based on its review of your application, including your income, credit history and existing debt.

Because each profile is different, limits can vary from one applicant to another.

Paying your statement balance in full each month when possible and avoiding a consistently high balance can help you manage your credit responsibly.

Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite: Fees and charges

Understanding the fees and interest rates is essential before applying for any credit card. The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card includes the following costs:

  • Annual fee: $150 for the primary cardholder. It’s rebated every year if you have a Scotiabank Ultimate Package chequing account;
  • Supplementary cards: $0 for the first additional card and $50 for each additional card after that;
  • Purchase interest rate: 20.99% annually;
  • Cash advance interest rate: 22.99% annually, which also applies to balance transfers and cash-like transactions;
  • Foreign transaction fee: none. Only the exchange rate applies;
  • Other fees: fees such as over-limit and NSF fees may apply, as described in the card’s disclosure statement.

Rates, fees and conditions checked on September 22, 2026, against the official Scotiabank website. Confirm current terms on the Scotiabank website before applying.

Understanding these fees can help you decide how the card fits your finances and travel habits, especially if you travel often or spend in multiple currencies.

Opinion about the card

The Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card combines travel benefits with the Scene+ rewards program, which can appeal to Canadians who travel often or make online purchases in U.S. dollars or other foreign currencies.

Not charging the 2.5% foreign transaction fee is one of the card’s main advantages. For example, $6,000 a year in foreign currency purchases would save you about $150 in fees, the same as the annual fee.

The 6 complimentary lounge visits and the travel insurance can also add value for people who travel regularly.

However, because of its $150 annual fee and income requirement, the card isn’t for everyone. If you rarely travel or mainly want to avoid annual fees with a simple cash back card, other options may fit you better.

Reviewing your grocery spending, travel habits and financial goals can help you decide whether this card fits your needs.
