The CIBC Aventura® Visa Infinite* Card is a travel rewards credit card issued by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

It’s designed for Canadians who travel regularly and want to earn flexible travel points while using one card for everyday purchases.

Cardholders earn Aventura Points on eligible spending and can use them for flights, hotels, car rentals and other redemptions in the CIBC Rewards program.

The card also includes travel and purchase insurance and Visa Infinite benefits.

Who is the CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card for?

The CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card is intended for Canadians who meet CIBC’s minimum income requirement and want a travel rewards card.

It suits people who travel several times a year and prefer to collect points they can use for flights on any airline, with no blackout dates when booking through the CIBC Rewards Centre, as well as for hotels, car rentals and other travel.

It also appeals to people who want insurance included with their card, such as out-of-province emergency travel medical insurance and trip cancellation and interruption coverage, instead of buying a separate policy for each trip.

To apply, you need a minimum personal income of $60,000 or a household income of $100,000. Approval depends on CIBC’s credit assessment and on verification of the information in your application.

Benefits of the CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card

The CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card includes benefits linked to travel rewards, insurance and flexible redemption:

Coverage limits, eligibility and exclusions apply to all insurance benefits. Review the Certificate of Insurance to understand how each coverage works.

CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card: Fees and charges

The CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card has several fees and interest rates that should be reviewed before applying.

According to the CIBC Credit Card Summary of Annual Interest Rates and Fees, the annual fee for this card is $139. Each authorized user card costs $50, for up to 3 additional cards. You may be eligible for an annual fee rebate if you have a CIBC Smart Account.

The annual interest rate is 21.99% for purchases. For cash advances, balance transfers and convenience cheques, it’s 22.99% (21.99% for Quebec residents). Your payment due date is at least 21 days after your statement date, and there’s no interest-free period for cash advances, balance transfers or convenience cheques.

If CIBC doesn’t receive your required payment two or more times in any 12-month period, higher interest rates apply for at least 12 months: 25.99% for purchases and 27.99% for cash advances, balance transfers and convenience cheques.

Foreign currency transactions are converted to Canadian dollars at the same rate CIBC must pay, plus a 2.5% fee on the converted amount.

Other fees include an overlimit fee of $29 and cash advance fees of $5 within Canada and $7.50 outside Canada (neither applies to Quebec residents), a $42.50 fee for a dishonoured payment to CIBC and a $40 fee for a dishonoured convenience cheque or balance transfer.

Rates and fees checked on September 22, 2026, against the CIBC website and the CIBC Credit Card Summary of Annual Interest Rates and Fees (current as of August 1, 2026). Confirm current terms on the CIBC website before applying.

Opinion about the card

The CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card can be a good option for Canadians who want to earn flexible travel rewards and have insurance coverage and lounge visits included with their card.

Its points program lets you redeem for flights on any airline without blackout dates when booking through CIBC, and your points don’t expire. Keep in mind that the flight rewards chart sets a maximum ticket price for each region, so points may cover less of the fare on more expensive flights.

The card has a $139 annual fee and a 21.99% interest rate on purchases if you carry a balance. It works best for people who meet the income requirement, travel regularly and pay their statement balance in full every month.

Before applying, review the cardholder agreement, the insurance coverage limits and the fees summary to make sure the card fits your travel habits and budget.
