Pros and cons of the Capital One Quicksilver

Pros

  • Unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, with no categories or caps

  • 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months
  • No annual fee and no foreign transaction fees
  • You can check your eligibility without affecting your credit score

Cons

  • 1.5% is below the 2% flat rate some competing no-annual-fee cards offer
  • No bonus categories on everyday spending such as groceries or dining
  • No premium travel perks, such as airport lounge access
  • Capital One lists the card for applicants with excellent credit

How the rewards work

You earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase, with no limit. Travel and entertainment booked through Capital One’s own platforms earn more: 5% cash back on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and 5% on purchases through Capital One Entertainment. If you find a better price on another site within 24 hours of booking an eligible flight, hotel or rental car through Capital One Travel, you get a travel credit for the difference.

You can redeem cash back as a check, a statement credit, a credit toward a recent purchase or gift cards. Checks and statement credits keep the full value, while Capital One notes that redemption rates for gift cards and other options may vary. Statement credits lower your balance but don’t count toward your minimum payment.

Welcome bonus and intro APR

New cardmembers can earn a one-time $200 cash bonus after spending $500 on purchases within 3 months of opening the account. That’s one of the lowest spending requirements for a bonus of this size. Capital One notes that the offer is available through the card’s application page, and you’re not eligible if you received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 48 months.

The card also offers a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 15 months. After that, a variable APR of 18.49% to 28.49% applies, based on your creditworthiness.

Capital One Quicksilver rates and fees

About Capital One

The card is issued by Capital One, N.A., one of the largest credit card issuers in the United States, headquartered in McLean, Virginia. Capital One offers credit cards, checking and savings accounts and auto loans, and it acquired Discover in 2025.

Managing the card

You manage the card through Capital One’s website and mobile app, where you can make payments, track your cash back and redeem rewards. Before applying, you can check your eligibility on Capital One’s website and see offers in about 90 seconds without any impact on your credit score.

Our take on the Capital One Quicksilver

The Capital One Quicksilver is a solid choice if you want simple cash back with no annual fee and no rules to follow. The $200 bonus is easy to earn, the 15-month intro APR helps with a planned purchase or balance transfer, and the lack of foreign transaction fees makes it useful abroad.

Its main weakness is the rate. Some no-annual-fee cards pay a flat 2% on every purchase, so if you mostly care about maximizing everyday cash back, compare those first. The Quicksilver’s intro APR and easy bonus can offset that difference in the first year. And like any rewards card, it pays off only if you avoid interest by paying in full once the intro period ends.

Capital One lists the card for applicants with excellent credit, and approval isn’t guaranteed.
