The card makes the most sense for riders who already spend money at Harley-Davidson, since that’s where the points have the most value. Below, we explain how the rewards work, what the card costs and who it suits.

How the rewards work

You earn H-D™ Genuine Rewards points on net purchases, which means purchases minus returns and credits:

  • 3 points per dollar at Harley-Davidson dealerships, gas stations and EV charging stations
  • 2 points per dollar at restaurants, bars and lodging
  • 1 point per dollar on everything else

Points are redeemed toward Harley-Davidson purchases, such as merchandise, parts, accessories and gift cards, with 2,500 points worth $25 at H-D. Unredeemed points expire three years from the date you earn them, on December 31 of the expiration year. Cash advances, balance transfers, interest and fees don’t earn points.

Qualifying Harley Owners Group® (H.O.G.®) members can also earn points for riding, at 1 point per mile, after activating the benefit.

Each time you use the card, you’re automatically entered into a daily drawing for a $500 H-D gift card, and H.O.G. members get two entries. It’s a sweepstakes, so treat it as a bonus rather than a reason to spend.

Intro APR offer

New cardholders get a 0% intro APR on purchases for the first 9 billing cycles. The same rate applies to balance transfers made within 30 days of opening the account. After that, the standard variable APR applies.

Balance transfers completed within 30 days of account opening have a 3% fee ($5 minimum). After that, the fee is 5% ($5 minimum). U.S. Bank applies your minimum payment to the balances with the lowest APR first, including promotional balances, so paying only the minimum doesn’t reduce any higher-rate balance you may have.

About U.S. Bank

The card is issued by U.S. Bank, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and one of the largest banks in the United States. There’s also a second version, the H-D™ H.O.G.™ Elite Visa Signature® Card, which has a $99 annual fee and extra benefits for Harley Owners Group members.

Managing your account

Because U.S. Bank issues the card, you manage your account online through the card’s website or U.S. Bank’s digital tools. There you can track transactions, make payments, view statements and redeem your H-D™ Genuine Rewards points.

Our take on the Harley-Davidson® Visa Signature® Card

The Harley-Davidson Visa Signature card is a good fit if you ride, shop at H-D dealerships and want a no-annual-fee card whose rewards go back into gear, parts or accessories. The 9-cycle intro APR can also help with a planned purchase, as long as you pay it off before the standard rate kicks in.

If you rarely buy from Harley-Davidson, the points lose most of their value, and a flat-rate cash back card will probably earn you more. It’s also not a card to take abroad, because of the foreign transaction fee.

Approval depends on your credit profile, and U.S. Bank doesn’t publish a minimum credit score.

In the next article, we walk through how to apply for the Harley-Davidson® Visa Signature® Card.
