Bank of America Travel Rewards: flat-rate points with no annual fee
Points for travel and dining credits, no foreign transaction fees and an intro APR period
The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card is a no-annual-fee card that earns a flat 1.5 points for every dollar you spend, on every purchase. You redeem the points as a statement credit toward travel and dining, and the card has no foreign transaction fees.

It also comes with a welcome bonus and a 0% intro APR period. Below, we explain how the points work, what the card costs and who it makes sense for.
How the points work
You earn 1.5 points per dollar on all purchases, with no categories to track and no limit on how much you can earn. Points don’t expire as long as your account is open.
You redeem points as a statement credit to cover travel and dining purchases already made with the card, such as flights, hotel stays, vacation rentals, baggage fees and restaurants, including takeout. Because you book wherever you want and apply the points afterward, there are no blackout dates or required travel portals. Based on the welcome offer, where 25,000 points equal a $250 credit, each point is worth 1 cent when used this way, which works out to 1.5% back on your spending.
If you’re a Bank of America customer and join the BofA Rewards™ program, you can earn a bonus on the rewards from your credit card purchases. The size of the bonus depends on your eligibility in that program.
Welcome bonus and intro APR
If you apply online, you can earn 25,000 bonus points after making at least $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of opening your account. That’s worth a $250 statement credit toward travel and dining purchases. Bank of America notes that the offer may not be available elsewhere.
The card also offers a 0% intro APR for your first 15 billing cycles on purchases and on balance transfers made within 60 days of opening the account. Balance transfers made in that window have a 3% fee; after that, the fee is 5%.

Bank of America applies minimum payments to lower-interest balances first and any extra payments to higher-interest balances first. If you carry both a 0% balance and a regular balance, paying more than the minimum is what reduces the balance that’s accruing interest.

Our take on the Bank of America® Travel Rewards card
The Bank of America® Travel Rewards card is a simple, low-cost option if you want to earn rewards for travel and dining without tracking categories or paying an annual fee. The lack of foreign transaction fees makes it useful to carry abroad, and the 15-cycle intro APR can help with a planned purchase.
It’s less appealing if you want premium travel benefits or higher earning rates in specific categories. And like any rewards card, it pays off only if you avoid interest after the intro period, since the standard APR would quickly outweigh 1.5% back.
You can check whether you prequalify on Bank of America’s website before applying. Approval is subject to credit review.
